Hosted telephony is where your phone system is housed in the cloud, rather than in your office. It is ideal for small and large businesses, call centers, and customer support departments.

Cloud telephony means you will not need any old telecom lines and all your business communication will be switched to the cloud. Also known as hosted telephony, it refers specifically to voice services and more specifically the replacement of conventional business telephone equipment, such as a private branch exchange (PBX), where telecommunications applications, switching and storage are hosted by a third-party outside of the organization using them, and they are accessed over the public Internet.

In comparison, a traditional phone system involves the system being based on your premises and connecting directly to an ISDN  line from a provider. For all incoming calls, each member of staff typically requires a desk phone.

With hosted telephony, the call can be received on a desk phone, softphone, or mobile application.  Cloud telephony provides the facility to maintain and manage the entire business communications infrastructure in the cloud while business telephones, smartphones, tablets, and computers let users access these services from wherever they are located.  Cloud telephony works on virtual numbers and all the incoming and outgoing calls are stored in a dashboard.
