Unit Summary
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to evaluate contract specifications and information and to prepare tender documents associated with projects in the building and construction industries. Knowledge of tender preparation and interpretation of project demands and requirements and the capability to bring together a body of diverse information are essential. How to find the information and present it in a manner that meets organisational needs in short timeframes is important, as is the ability to manage time effectively.

Metharom Construction (MC) plans to become a leading provider of housing construction and renovation services in the South-East Melbourne area. The company’s overall strategy will be based on a continuing improvement process of setting objectives, measuring results, and providing feedback to facilitate further growth and progress. They have been involved in commercial construction for 3 years and are now branching out to residential housing. You are a construction manager who will be managing the repair work of a building of a single rise dwelling (1040 Greenacre Boulevard, Northcote, Victoria, 3070 project). You are preparing a tender for this repair project. The client is comparing your company to other companies and they would like the bathroom to be finished and ready to occupy no later than 6weeks from now. For more information, refer to the appendices.
Assessment 1: Prepare the checklist for tender document and evaluate risk  (Approximately 600 words).
The owner for 1040 Greenacre is inviting tender quotes for repair work.  You are required to analyse and evaluate the risk in submitting the tender for this project, on behalf of Metharom for 1040 Greenacre Boulevard, Northcote, Victoria, 3070. The project details are provided in appendix A. You are also required to refer to the plans provided.
