Question

a) As a facilities manager, you are tasked to manage the spaces and assets of a 3-story office building with one basement. Refer to the Revit project template file. The internal layout for the building is partially completed. You are to examine and complete the internal layout for all levels using the BIM application with the requirement as indicated below. With the completed BIM model generate a report describing the project information and a snapshot of all floorplans with appropriate labeling.

Basement 1

  • 8 Mechanical Spaces
  • Include appropriate mechanical and electrical equipment

Level 1

  • 10 Enclosed Office Rooms
  • 1 Enclosed Printing Room
  • 10 Open Office Cubicles
  • 1 Pantry
  • Include office furniture such as chairs and tables to 4 of the enclosed office
    rooms

Level 2

  • 10 Enclosed Office Rooms
  • 2 Open Meeting Cubicles
  • 12 Open Office Cubicles
  • Include office furniture such as chairs and tables in 4 of the enclosed office
    rooms

Level 3

  • 10 Enclosed Office Rooms
  • 1 Enclosed Conference Room
  • 2 Open Meeting Cubicles
  • 12 Open Office Cubicles
  • Include office furniture such as chairs and desks in all rooms and cubicles to 4
    of the enclosed office rooms

There are no requirements for the size of the room and office cubicle. The enclosed room should be a full-height gypsum partition while the open office cubicles should 1.5 m high system partition. Label the spaces to all levels and the basement with an appropriate name. Equipment and Furniture should be populated with appropriate attributes.

b) Appraise the benefits of using BIM in setting up data information for space
development.

c) Describe TWO (2) ways on the use BIM in the operation and maintenance of the building
